New Brand Sites to Offer Enhanced Mobile and Customer Experience
Today Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (NYSE: WSM) announced the launch of four new
e-commerce sites for Canadian customers. The U.S.-based home furnishings
retailer currently has 24 brick and mortar stores in Canada and, for the
first time ever, will provide the market with a robust product
assortment through company-owned and operated e-commerce sites. The new
sites for Williams Sonoma, West Elm, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids
brands will offer an enhanced customer experience including full access
from mobile devices, localized content and new product offerings.
As a global, multi-channel retailer, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. generates
over 50% of its revenues online, and further development of
company-owned e-commerce sites is a key component of the company’s
global growth strategy. Beginning in 2013, Williams-Sonoma, Inc.
launched its first international websites in Australia and the United
Kingdom, and now the expansion into Canada allows the company to provide
a premier multi-channel experience to customers in that market.
“Canada is an important market for us, and we are excited to offer our
Canadian customers the convenience of online shopping, providing them
with a complete multi-channel experience,” said Laura Alber, President
and Chief Executive Officer of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. “In addition to our
retail presence, we are now able to engage with our Canadian customers
online and through their mobile devices with localized content and
enhanced product offerings.”
ENGAGING DIGITAL EXPERIENCE
The new sites will include mobile functionality that will allow
customers to make purchases from any mobile device. The online customer
experience will also include localized content marketing that highlights
Canadian holidays and traditions.
NEW PRODUCT OFFERINGS
The sites will feature products sold in Canadian stores, as well as
select new assortment offerings that have yet to debut in the Canadian
market. At launch, new-to-market items will include a curated assortment
of best-selling products from the U.S. including cutlery and cookware
from Williams Sonoma and furniture and decorative pieces from West Elm,
with additional selections in the coming months.
