West Elm is encouraging shoppers this holiday season to consider the
power of their purchases by participating in Giving Tuesday, a movement
that celebrates giving back. On November 28, West Elm will donate 100
percent of its profits* on select holiday gifts, decor, tabletop and
accessories designed in collaboration with the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the Human Rights Campaign
(HRC), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and Nepal Earthquake
Relief. Each product is designed to make an impact in customers’ homes
and support the organizations that are making a difference in local
communities and around the world.
“We offer our customers thoughtfully designed products that make giving
back easy and affordable year round through our longstanding
partnerships with each of these organizations,” said West Elm president
Alex Bellos. “You often hear change can start small and it’s true. This
season we stand by our partner organizations to celebrate the importance
of making every purchase count. We are proud to participate in Giving
Tuesday for the first time and support our partners even more this
holiday by donating 100 percent of our profits from each of their
collections, giving our customers the power to effect change right from
their shopping list.”
On November 28 from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., West Elm will donate 100
percent of profits made online and in-store from the purchase of any of
the following ‘Gifts that Give Back’ collections:
-

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ornaments
inspired by some of Instagram’s most famous and adorable pets, such as Cleo
the Bunny, Juniper
Foxx, Rusty
Rodas and White

benefit the ASPCA, an organization working to provide effective means
for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

other life-threatening diseases.
-

handmade in Nepal start at $3 each and include the whimsical blue octopus,
gleeful turtle

The purchase of each handmade piece will aid Nepalese craftspeople at
West Elm’s Fair Trade Certified™ factory, Everest Fashions, and
help fund rebuilding efforts after the devastating 2015 earthquake in
the region.
Created in 2012 by the 92nd
Street Y in partnership with the United
Nations Foundation, Giving
Tuesday connects individuals, communities and organizations around
the world to raise awareness and inspire giving to those in need. The
#GivingTuesday hashtag is used to fuel the movement on social media and
encourage communities to come together. Each year the movement continues
to grow and strengthen with new partners joining forces across
industries.
