17,000 Square Foot Store Reflects New Store Design and Will Feature Local Partnerships and Exclusive Products and Services
Pottery
Barn, a member of the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (NYSE:WSM) portfolio of
brands, unveils its new flagship store on September 8, 2017 in New York
City’s Flatiron District. Housed in a landmark building constructed in
1904, the store is located at 12 West 20th Street at 5th
Avenue in the historic Manhattan district known for its grand department
stores, lofts and skyscrapers. The beautifully preserved building is
representative of New York’s Beaux-Arts movement, boasting original
columns and adorned ceiling accents, and reflects Pottery Barn’s new
store concept. The store will feature exclusive products and services
including Design Crew, a new design services initiative that will take
any home design project from inspiration to reality.
“The first Pottery Barn store opened in New York City and it’s
exciting to come full circle by opening a flagship store in the city
where it all began,” said Marta Benson, President of Pottery Barn. “The
new store concept is designed to enhance the customer experience to
create an inviting, relaxed environment that makes the process of
decorating your home effortless and fun. We’re excited to invite
customers to discover new collections, inspiring decorating ideas and
talented design experts in our newly designed store.”
The flagship will be the first store to introduce a new Pottery Barn
design initiative, The Package Deal – Home in a Box, which offers
an accessibly-priced, curated menu of furniture pieces that are the
foundation to a well-designed bedroom or living room, with packages
starting at $1,000. Each season, the room offerings will vary as
different products and pricing tiers are introduced, and customers will
work closely with a Potter Barn design specialist to select options
within each package.
The newly designed store will offer a carefully curated assortment of
apartment-ready, multi-functional furniture as well as a complete range
of Pottery Barn’s distinct design aesthetics. To make the shopping
experience quick and easy, a wide assortment of products will be
available for same-day pick up or expedited delivery. Lastly,
one-of-a-kind vintage finds hand-selected by Pottery Barn will be
available for purchase at the Flatiron location with new items
continually being added. In-home installation services including, room
painting, drape installation, gallery wall hanging and more will be
available starting at $129.
The store will open with Design
Crew, a new cross-brand design services initiative that enables
customers to work with a team of designers who specialize in finding the
right products and services for a variety of needs at home, across all
eight Williams-Sonoma Inc. brands, including Williams Sonoma, Williams
Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen, Mark and Graham,
Rejuvenation, and West Elm. This unique program capitalizes on the
company’s diverse portfolio of brands and market leadership in the home
category to bring a first-of-its-kind interior design and decorating
service to customers.
To mark the store opening, Pottery Barn has partnered with local artists
to design exclusive products and local photographers to create original
content that celebrates Pottery Barn against the backdrop of New York
City where Pottery Barn opened its first store in Chelsea in 1949. Three
New York City-based photographers captured striking imagery featuring
Pottery Barn items artistically situated in various neighborhoods
throughout the city, representing each artist’s unique point of view.
Content showcases work from dancer photographer Omar Z. Robles (@omarzrobles),
food and lifestyle photographer Chloe Crane-Leroux (@chloecleroux)
and mixed media specialist Que Duong (@queduong).
Additionally, Pottery Barn has collaborated with Women
Who Draw, a global open directory of female professional
illustrators, to debut an exclusive line of art prints and linen tea
towels inspired by iconic New York City landmarks and neighborhoods.
Artwork will be featured from artists Jordan
Sondler, Junghwa
Park, Lauren
Tamaki, and Lisk
Feng. Linen tea towels ($22.50) will be available at all New York
City Pottery Barn stores and the art prints, ranging from $16 to $30,
can be found exclusively at the Flatiron location and online at www.potterybarn.com.
A portion of proceeds from this partnership will benefit the artists and
the Women Who Draw organization.
Throughout its opening weekend, the store will host a series of special
