Brooklyn, NY based home furnishings retailer West Elm will open a Pasadena location in Paseo Colorado on Thursday, November 12 at 10 a.m. Product from 13 California-based makers will be available in store as part of West Elm’s LOCAL initiative to connect the community with designers and artisans from across the state. Pasadena-based illustrator Pei Design will create a limited edition tote bag to be gifted on November 12 to the first 300 shoppers with a $50 minimum purchase.

The 10,000 sq. ft. store features a bespoke mural inspired by the planetary mapping projects of NASA’s nearby Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The mural, created by Richmond, CA native and master potter Jered Nelson of Jered’s Pottery, is made up of 12x12 textured tiles and features embedded and countersunk spheres that are hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel to imitate impact craters.

West Elm Pasadena at Paseo Colorado opening activities include a sweepstakes* offering local customers a chance to win a $2,000 gift card and an invitation to a private pre-opening celebration on Wednesday, November 11 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The store will open with West Elm’s holiday and gift assortment and a selection of Fair Trade Certified products and handcrafted goods from around the world. Complimentary design services and Home Stylist consultations will be available at the in-store Design Lab.
